Larry Fitgerald on losing streak: 'The urgency is like if you would be drowning'

The Arizona Cardinals have lost seven straight games, and the offensive woes are wearing on veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

The Arizona Cardinals, visitors to New York on Sunday to face the Jets, have been ravaged at quarterback and wide receiver this season, a significant reason for the team's current seven-game losing streak. Rookie Ryan Lindley will be making his second NFL start this weekend, in place of injured quarterbacks Kevin Kolb and John Skelton, and both No. 2 wide receiver Andre Roberts and No. 3 wideout Early Doucet have been limited in practice this week, meaning the Cardinals could be in for another long day on the offensive side of the ball.

Stuck in the abyss that has been this Arizona season is veteran star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who on Thursday equated the current losing skid to the feeling of drowning, via FOX Sports Arizona:

"Seven weeks, the urgency is like if you would be drowning. You ever been in the pool and you're struggling for air? How hard do you fight to get to the top? That's kind of how we all feel right now. We're struggling and fighting and doing anything we can to get to the top."

Fitzgerald, a perennial 1,000-yard receiver, has just 55 catches for 627 yards this season, with four touchdowns. In last week's 31-17 loss to the St. Louis Rams, Lindley was unable to connect with Fitzgerald on multiple occasions. The wide receiver finished with just three catches for 31 yards.

Kickoff between the Cardinals and Jets is scheduled for 11 a.m. MT on Sunday from MetLife Stadium.
