Ryan Williams injury: 'I'll get through this'

Scott Rovak-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Arizona Cardinals running back Ryan Williams says he'll get through his second consecutive season-ending injury.

Ryan Williams suffered a season-ending injury when he fractured his left shoulder after a hit from St. Louis safety Darian Stewart. Stewart knocked Williams under the shoulder pad and caused the Cardinals running back to lose feeling on the left side, and the fracture will require surgery that will end his season. This will be the second straight season that Williams has had season-ending surgery. Williams suffered a ruptured patella tendon in the 2011 preseason and also missed the entire regular season last year.

Williams seems fairly positive about this devastating news though. Josh Weinfuss of Cardinals.com filed this report, believing that the experience will be beneficial in helping him progress as a football player.

"I went through this for a whole year last year," he said. "I’m still actually going through the knee thing. That could be a good thing for my knee and my whole body, just so it could recover like it should be. So then next year I won’t be waking up feeling like I’m 60 years old every day.

"I really believe in my heart truly that it is beneficial and it’ll let my whole body do what it needs to do and then I’ll be the Ryan Williams everybody has been expecting to see."

Arizona is now without Williams for the season and Beanie Wells for much of the regular season. The Cardinals are now down to LaRod Stephens-Howling, William Powell and Alfonso Smith as healthy running backs left in the rotation.
