Cardinals fall 19-16 to Bills in overtime

Jay Feely tied it with a 61-yarder, but had a 38-yarder tipped at end of regulation that would have won it. John Skelton's interception in OT set up Lindell's winning kick.

Cards lead Bills at halftime 10-9

After taking a 9-3 lead after one quarter, the Buffalo Bills received an Arizona Cardinals punt to start off the second quarter. But the Arizona defense forced a three-and-out to give the Cardinals the ball.

A Patrick Peterson return that would have had the offense taking over beyond the 40 was negated by a holding penalty that took them back to their own 26. They would again go three plays before having to punt back to the Bills.

Finally, with a little over 10 minutes left in the first half, the offense finally showed up. They had 16 yards of offense in their first four drives, but they went 10 plays and 67 yards, with Kevin Kolb finding Larry Fitzgerald for a nine-yard touchdown pass. It was the first time as well that the running game had any impact. William Powell busted free for a 17-yard run and a five-yarder before the scoring play to Fitz.

The defense forced a three-and-out again, and the offense had a chance to add to the lead. On fourth down, they ran a fake punt that Rashad Johnson ran for a first down. However, they could not advance the ball after that.

Buffalo took over at the 20 with 54 seconds left, but time expired before they could get into scoring range.

Kevin Kolb was 8/16 for 76 yards and a touchdown, while William Powell ran the ball seven times for 35 yards. Larry Fitzgerald had two receptions for 26 yards and the score.

For Buffalo, Fred Jackson rushed for 29 yards and C.J. Spiller for 27. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was 9/15 for 44 yards.

Cards offense absent in 1st qtr. 9-3 Bills after 1

The Arizona Cardinals elected to defer when they won the coin toss before the game, hoping the defense would make a statement early against the Buffalo Bills. They did, as Daryl Washington forced Fred Jackson to fumble on the first play from scrimmage to give the Arizona the ball right away.

After only three plays, they were forced to kick a field goal, but Jay Feely hit the 49-yarder to take a 3-0 lead.

The Buffalo offense would be forced to punt on the next series, but the Cardinals put together another terrible drive. A negative run came on first down and a penalty on second down led to Kevin Kolb getting sacked in the end zone for a safety.

When Buffalo got the ball back after the free kick, they promptly marched down the field in 10 plays, mixing runs and passes, with C.J. Spiller running in the touchdown from 10 yards out.

Arizona amassed a total of 14 yards of offense in the first quarter, with only one pass play going for positive yardage -- a 24-yard play to Michael Floyd.

Buffalo held the ball for nine and a half minutes of the first quarter. Fred Jackson has 25 yards rushing and C.J. Spiller has 19 for the the Bills.
