NFL Week 8, Arizona Cardinals: Bobby Massie facing big challenge against 49ers

Massie has statistically been the worst offensive tackle in football this season. He'll need to step up against the 49ers.

The Arizona Cardinals offensive line has been pretty bad this season, particularly the last three weeks. The Cardinals just so happened to lose those last three games, and now people are searching for answers as the team begins to fall behind a bit in the divisional standings.

With the San Francisco 49ers coming to town for Monday Night Football in Week 8, Arizona has a chance to make a statement with a big win. Their offensive line must play better in order for that to happen. Starting right tackle Bobby Massie has statistically been the worst player at his position this season, and he'll be going up against a very good 49ers pass rush. Here is what head coach Ken Whisenhunt said on the topic, via Arizona Sports:

"Regardless of what statistics or anybody says we haven't been good enough in that area. That's an area where we've got to play better, we've got to work better and we've been trying to do that."

Whisenhunt also defended his player despite the struggles. After all, Massie is only a couple of months removed from being drafted:

"You are going to go through some tough times and it's all part of growing and learning. That's why it's so hard. People say, put rookies in and let them play, and I understand that. But you've got to understand that you are going to go through some growing pains with them and that's what this league's all about."

it will be interesting to see how Massie and the rest of the Cardinals' offensive line responds against San Francisco this week. This might be the biggest game of the season, and it's tough to see Arizona winning without a big game from their linemen.
