NFL Week 8, Cardinals Vs. 49ers: Arizona excited to host Monday Night Football

The Cardinals are excited for their Monday night showdown with the 49ers.

Monday Night Football may not have the pull it once did thanks to the addition of games throughout the week, but don't tell that to the Arizona Cardinals. The players are getting very excited for their Week 8 showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, which will be the team's first MNF appearance in nearly two years.

The last time the Cardinals played on Monday night was a forgettable one, losing to the 49ers by a score of 27-6. That has not deterred this year's team though, and the players are looking forward to their primetime showdown. Here is what a few players had to say in a recent article on the team's official site:

"The build-up is pretty high and you have some pretty good announcers," linebacker O'Brien Schofield said. "Everyone's excited to see the main game, the nation's watching. It's one of those things a lot of teams gear up for and take pride [in] because you want to look good when you're in front of all the NFL teams."

And the take of center Lyle Sendlein, who grew up in Scottsdale and benefitted from MNF games starting at 5 p.m. in the West:

"It was always good because you would get home from school and you would get to watch it. It wasn't like we had to wait long to watch, like back East. I just remember watching it with my dad and my siblings. It was something as a family we always watched."

The Cardinals really need to win this game if they hope to keep their chances alive in the NFC West. The team has lost three in a row, and a loss would put them essentially three games back of the 49ers with just one head-to-head matchup remaining.
