The Arizona Cardinals came into this Week 2 game against the Washington Redskins missing starting inside linebacker Daryl Washington due to a calf injury suffered in the NFL season opener. In the second quarter of this game, it looks like they lost their other starting ILB, Paris Lenon, to an apparent knee injury.
It's not yet clear what happened to Lenon but after a run play he had to be helped to the sideline and was unable to put any weight on his leg. Reports from Fed Ex field are that a cart was called to take him to the locker room for further evaluation.
The Arizona defense has already given up 115 yards on the ground and a total of 246 yards through the majority of the first half. It will be a big blow to the defense if Lenon can't return.
If the Cardinals lose another ILB they would either have to move Adrian Wilson up from safety and back him up with Rashad Johnson or move one of the veteran outside backers, either Clark Haggans or Joey Porter, inside and bring in one of their young OLBs, O'Brien Schofield or Sam Acho to play outside.
We will provide an update on Lenon's status once more information is available.
