Adrian Wilson Denies Report From Head Coach, Claims Bicep Is Not Torn

Adrian Wilson recently talked with reporters and had a few interesting things to say. The most substantial and interesting quote to come out of the veteran safety?

According to this article:

When asked specifics about the tear: "Who said I had a tear? These are false reports, man. What are you all talking about? I'm just hurt. These reports are outlandish."

This would refute what head coach Ken Whisenhunt said at the beginning of his press conference Monday:

"Since I can pretty much guess what the first question's going to be, I'll just start with that. Adrian has a torn bicep tendon."

Wilson was just being Wilson, of course.

This is the same guy who spent last season denying he was hurt but ended up having surgery in the offseason to repair a torn labrum in his hip. This is the guy who just a few days before this injury told us how he doesn't talk about being hurt.

In A-Dub's mind, there's no such thing as a torn tendon, "I think I've got two options," Wilson said after the afternoon practice. "I can either get busy living, or get busy dying."

We don't know if Adrian will be ready by season-opener on September 11, but we do know that no one will work harder in rehab to get back. As Whisenhunt said Monday, he'd play with one arm gone if he could.

Adrian Wilson Rehabbing Torn Biceps Tendon, Team Will Move On Without Him

Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson is not a guy who is going to accept being injured and missing time with a shrug. Wilson is as tough as they come and so it's no surprise when his coach, Ken Whisenhunt, said he's already working hard on his rehab to get back as quickly as possible from a torn biceps tendon injury.

Whisenhunt said the injury occurred early in practice on Saturday when Wilson extended his arm when he tried to make a tackle on running back Beanie Wells.

There's no official timeline set for his return but Wilson is expected to play this season. Whisenhunt repeatedly said it would depend on how the injury responded to treatment and while early signs are positive, it's too soon to say.

"I know this, my number one concern is the health of Adrian. I know he's a very tough player and he'd go out there with one arm if he could. So, we obviously have to make sure his body is healing correctly before we allow him to play," Whisenhunt added.

The Cardinals re-signed safety Matt Ware who, along with Rashad Johnson, will step into Wilson's slot. Johnson is a third-year player out of Alabama drafted by the Cardinals in the third round in 2009. Ware is an eight-year NFL vet who played 14 games with the Cardinals last season. He had eight tackles and three special teams stops.

Whisenhunt said his team will need to simply pick up the slack and move on, "That's football. That happens in the game."

Arizona Cardinals Injury Update: Adrian Wilson Rehabbing At Cardinals Practice

The Arizona Cardinals are back at it Monday morning on the practice field and safety Adrian Wilson is reportedly rehabbing and working out on the sidelines. This comes as big news, especially after John Clayton tweeted that Wilson likely wouldn't need surgery.

This is more good news for both the Cardinals and Wilson. After some feared there was severe damage to his elbow, it appears to be OK and not damaged enough to require surgery. This is undoubtably the best case scenario and hopefully Wilson will be back on the field in the near future.

Matt Ware practices:

Recently signed safety Matt Ware was at Cardinals camp on Monday practicing with the team, according to Craig Morgan. While Cardinals Nation would love to have Wilson available, Ware will be serving as backup option and the team needs him to be ready. Wilson's history with injuries isn't exactly stellar.

Arizona Cardinals Injury Rumors: Adrian Wilson Will Not Need Surgery

Adrian Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals looked like he could've been in deep trouble after suffering a hit to the right elbow on Saturday. The injury was serious enough to the safety that it required an MRI. Usually an injury to that location could mean a break or a tear, the later which could've meant surgery and thus many weeks off from playing football. This appears to not be the case.

John Clayton of ESPN tweeted that Wilson will not need surgery on either his bicep or elbow, although no official report will come out until Monday (which is why this is still a rumor). Non-surgical rehab is looking more likely according to multiple sources. Wilson is one of the toughest characters in the league, and it's no surprise that he will be able to return to action as soon as he possibly can. Matt Ware was signed though, so Wilson might still be out for some time.

Cardinals Safety Adrian Wilson To Get MRI On Right Elbow

Safety Adrian Wilson will get an MRI on his right elbow after suffering a hit during Saturday's practice. Following the hit, the 31-year-old Wilson was on all fours and had trouble standing up. He eventually did rise, however, and watched the rest of the practice from the sidelines while icing his elbow.

The 11-year veteran is a central part of the Cardinals' defense and his absence will surely be felt if he misses time. In addition to performing on the field, Wilson has spent a lot of time during training camp and pre-training camp serving as a mentor to several young defensive players. Any time missed would hinder not only his own progress but possibly the progress of several younger players as well.

Wilson has played in every single game the past two seasons. This, however, does not mean that Wilson has been injury-free. Rather, it goes to show that Wilson is very tough and resilient. Last season he battled through a hip abductor injury that was more serious than anyone on the Cardinals' staff realized. He played out the season and then had offseason injury.

Wilson's philosophy seems to be that playing through injuries shows one's teammates just how dedicated one is to them and to the team as a whole. Expect Wilson to fight this injury the same way he fought that hip abductor last season.
