Nnamdi Asomugha To The Arizona Cardinals, Mistakes Weren't Made

The top free agent in the NFL Free Agent Class of 2011 has gone to the Philadelphia Eagles. If it wasn't ironic enough that the great cornerback would land on the Philly turf next to the just-traded-for Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie and alongside the formidable Asante Samuels consider this -- the Arizona Cardinals made a late play Thursday night to nab Nnamdi.

Cardinals tried to get into Nnamdi sweepstakes | ProFootballTalk
Appearing on FOX Sports Radio after the Nnamdi news broke, Glazer reported that the Cardinals were a late entry into the Nnamdi sweepstakes, getting involved Thursday night but bowing out fairly quickly.

Oh, the beautiful irony.

↵

But let us also note the part of the report stating that the Cardinals bowed out fairly quickly. Perhaps negotiations went something like this:

↵

Cardinals GM Rod Graves: Hey there, Mr. Agent. We're interested in signing your free agent client, Nandi Asuaguhami. What kind of deal are you looking for?

↵

Graves: Really? Well, it was nice talking to you. Best of luck.

↵

The Eagles reportedly signed Nnamdi (the only player in the NFL with the deadly double "N" combination in his name) to a five-year deal worth $60 million with $25 million guaranteed.

↵

I guess that put the Cardinals out of the market saved them from having to give a lot of money to a really good football player. Perish the thought.

The good news, Cardinals fans, is that Michael Adams is coming back.
