Arizona Cardinals Injury Report, Week 12: Will Davis On IR, Max Komar Re-signed

The Arizona Cardinals made a roster move Tuesday because of the fractured fibula that LB Will Davis suffered during the team's 31-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Coach Ken Whisenhunt had already stated that Davis would miss the remainder of the season, so in an expected move, the team placed Davis on injured reserve, officially ending the season for the second-year player. To replace Davis on roster, WR Max Komar, who was waived last week, was re-signed to the team.

In other moves, waived RB Alphonso Smith, who was promoted to the 53-man roster due to injuries to both RB LaRod Stephens-Howling and RB Jason Wright. Replacing Smith is undrafted rookie CB Marshay Green, who was promoted from the practice squad.

The return of Komar is not a surprise, as the coaching staff has been very pleased with his development this year. The waiving of Smith would seem to indicate that the team is fairly confident that Wright and Stephens-Howling will be ready to play against San Francisco next Monday night. Smith will probably be re-signed to the practice squad later if he clears waivers.

The promotion of Green to the active roster seems to be an indication of concern for the injury to Greg Toler's foot. The move provides depth in the defensive backfield and on special teams, as Green has experience in covering kicks and punts, and also in returning both kicks and punts. If Michael Adams is forced to start again, it would appear that Green will take Adam's place on special teams.
