LeGarrette Blount Runs Over Arizona Cardinals In Buccaneers Win, 38-35

The Arizona Cardinals lost at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in depressing fashion and fall to 3-4 on the season and are now in third place in the NFC West behind the Seattle Seahawks (4-3) and the St. Louis Rams (4-4). The Cardinals defense, effective in the first quarter, seemed to give up hope and allowed Tampa Bay to run wild in the second. Tampa Bay rookie running back LeGarrette Blount, picked up off waivers, ran for 120 yards on 22 carries.

The Bucs put up 17 of their 35 points in that quarter. Offensively, the Cardinals quarterback woes only got worse with Max Hall being benched in favor of Derek Anderson who had previously benched in favor of Max Hall. Both Hall and Anderson threw two interceptions each with both of Hall's being returned for touchdowns and Anderson's final one coming in the red zone at a crucial late-game moment.

LeGarrette Blount became yet another in a line of big backs that the Cardinals weren't able to stop. Like Jason Snelling (Atlanta) and Mike Tolbert (San Diego), Blount powered through the Cardinals defensive line and was not easily brought down in the open field by the secondary. On one fantastic play, the big Blount hurdled Kerry Rhodes tackle attempt.

Derek Anderson in relief for Max Hall threw for 234 yards on 16-24 passing. Anderson looked exactly like the guy who coach Ken Whisenhunt benched in Week 4. He had a few nice throws but continues to force the ball into tight coverage and shows little touch on his passes. Max Hall looked even worse, completing only 50 percent of his attempts. The two interceptions returned for touchdowns were the killer though. Coming off a terrible game in Seattle, the Cardinals are faced with a choice between bad and bad.
