Illinois Vs. Arizona State Halftime Update: Sun Devils' Offensive Efficiency Leads Team To 28-7 Advantage

Arizona State's offense has been firing on all cylinders in the first thirty minutes of game action, racking up 323 total yards including 101 yards from tight end Chris Coyle. Taylor Kelly and Michael Eubank have only misfired on two of their 18 attempts, totaling 241 yards and three touchdowns through the air.

From the coin flip, the Sun Devils offense appeared locked in, driving 68 yards before Cameron Marshall coughed up the ball on the one-yard line. Kelly and company were quick to get over that turnover though as they drove 65 yards on the very next drive, capping it off with a five-yard touchdown toss from Kelly to Kevin Ozier.

Marshall would redeem himself on the Devils' third drive by pounding in the ball from the one-yard line to make it 14-0.

Donovonn Young was eventually able to put the Illini on the board for the first time when a bumped a 17-yard run to the outside to find pay dirt. But Arizona State would answer with two touchdown passes from Eubank to Coyle on consecutive drives to extend to the lead to 21.

The Devils defense has been equally as effective with true freshman linebacker Carlos Mendoza intercepting two Osei Miles passes. Illinois has been able to get their fair share of yards on the ground (141) but Arizona State's swarming pass rush has sacked Illini quarterbacks twice, limiting them to just five completions on 12 attempts.
