Cal may have a 1-3 record, but they are favored by two over the 3-1 Arizona State Sun Devils.
Don't let the records of the two schools fool you. This game could be more competitive than it seems. The Cal Bears enter Saturday's contest with a losing record of 1-3. Their opponent, the Arizona State Sun Devils, are the opposite with a 3-1 record. Naturally, Cal is favored by two?
It could be the home field advantage. It could be that Cal has had a more difficult schedule and managed not to get blown out. It could be that ASU hasn't really gone up against a challenge yet this season.
Cal has faced Nevada, Southern Utah, Ohio State, and USC this season. Their only win came against Southern Utah, 50-31. The fact that Cal has managed to hang on and not get completely blown out by their other three opponents, two of which are in the top 25, gives them a little favor on the line.
Arizona State has faced Northern Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, and Utah. Mizzou gave ASU its only loss, and it was a close one, 24-20. Their other three opponents were beaten handily, by a margin of at least 30 points.
Game time on Saturday is 1:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcasted on FX.
