Thursday Night Football is here again and we get another very good quarterback matchup. Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers will host the Super Bowl champion New York Giants and Eli Manning. Carolina is actually favored in this one. Can the Panthers cover, or will the Giants avoid a 1-2 start, winning on the road in a short week? Or can they simply cover in a close loss?
We make our pick after the jump.
New York Giants at Carolina Panthers (-3): Eli Manning overcame three interceptions and threw for over 500 yards against the Buccaneers, who actually beat the Panthers in Week 1. However, in this Thursday Night Football contest, Manning will be without three weapons -- running back Ahmad Bradshaw and receivers Hakeem Nicks and Domenik Hixon. Carolina has Cam Newton. What is a gambler to do? As we have seen over the past couple of years, it is hard to count out Newton. Go with the guy that keeps defying odds. Pick: Panthers, -3.
