Usain Bolt And USWNT Soccer Win Gold In Thursday Olympic Action

Stay connected for news and updates

Usain Bolt completed his individual sweep of sprinting events on Thursday after cruising to a gold medal victory in the men's 200 meter final. Bolt finished with a time of 19.32 seconds. On Sunday, Bolt defended his 100 meter Olympic title, running the premier event in 9.63 seconds. Bolt's winning performance on Thursday made him the first sprinter ever to win back-to-back Olympic titles in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

The other major story of Thursday's Olympic action was the U.S. Women's national soccer team's victory over Japan. USWNT beat Japan 2-1, avenging last year's loss to Japan in the World Cup. Carli Lloyd scored both of the U.S.'s goals. Lloyd's clutch performance on the big stage is not out of the ordinary; she scored the the gold-medal-winning goal for the USWNT in 2008 against Brazil.
