Olympics Medal Count: China Overtakes United States On Sunday

The United States and China have gone back and forth all week in London atop the overall medal leaderboard. China held the early lead until Thursday, and then it was the U.S. who took over the top spot for three days. Following a lackluster showing on Sunday from Team USA in various events, China has now overtaken the lead once again.

Here is a look at the latest medal count. The overall tally is listed first, followed by the number of gold, silver and bronze medals won thus far.

1. China: 61 (30 - 17 - 14)
2. United States: 60 (28 - 14 - 18)
3. Great Britain: 37 (16 - 11 - 10)
4. Russia: 35 (4 - 16 - 15)
5. Japan: 27 (2 - 12 - 13)
6. France: 25 (8 - 8 - 9)
7. Germany: 22 (5 - 10 - 7)
