Andy Murray looks to bring a major title home after his gold medal victory in London.

The final major of the tennis season begins Monday in Flushing Meadow, N.Y., as the world's best gather at the U.S. Open looking to make some history at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and Arthur Ashe court.

Roger Federer headlines the men's draw, as the veteran looks for his sixth title at the U.S. Open, which would be a men's singles record. The top-seeded Swiss national opens his quest for the sixth title on Monday against American Donald Young under the lights of night tennis in New York.

Andy Murray, fresh from his gold medal performance at the London Olympics, will look to derail Federer's attempt to make history. Murray, the third seed, could see Federer in the semifinals if both advance that far. Murray also opens his quest for his first major title on Monday.

On the women's side, third-ranked Maria Sharapova and fourth-ranked Serena Williams enter the tournament among the favorites after the two faced off for the gold medal in London, with Serena taking down the Russian handily. Belarus' Victoria Azarenka is the women's draw top seed.
