The Barclays 2012, Leaderboard Update: Padraig Harrington Leads, Phil Mickelson In The Hunt

It was a birdie-filled day on Thursday at the 2012 Barclays at Bethpage Black in New York, with Irishman Padraig Harrington taking the early lead in the opening round of the PGA Tour playoffs.

Harrington fired an opening round of 64, leaving him atop the leaderboard at 7-under. Nick Watney, Gary Christian and Brian Harman all sit just one shot behind Padraig at 6-under after opening rounds of 65. Six players are currently within three shots of the lead.

As for Phil Mickelson, he finished his day with a 3-under 69, setting himself up well for the rest of the tournament. Tiger Woods and Zach Johnson each shot opening round 69's as well.

Rory McIlroy shot an opening round 70, finding himself 2-under for the tourney.
