As the Arizona Diamondbacks get ready for their first ever double-header against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday at Chase Field, a pair of youngsters will be taking the mound for either squad in game one.
Arizona will send out 21-year old Tyler Skaggs, who will be making his major league debut in the opener.The left-hander began the season in Double-A before going 4-2 with a 2.91 ERA in nine starts for Triple-A Reno, giving up one earned run or fewer in seven of those outings.
Miami will send out Jacob Turner, making his Marlins debut out of Triple-A New Orleans to make his Marlins debut. He was acquired from Detroit as part of the trade for Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante on July 23. He had an 8.03 ERA in three starts for the Tigers, but went 2-0 with a 1.98 ERA in five starts for New Orleans.
Wade LeBlanc (2-2, 2.50 ERA) faces Wade Miley (13-8, 2.96) in the nightcap.
