Cardinals See Enough Of Kolb, Skelton In 1st Half Vs. Raiders, Lead 24-11

The Arizona Cardinals led the Oakland Raiders 24-11 at halftime of their Friday night preseason game. But despite some great special teams play and a defense that forced turnovers, of course the biggest storyline is about the quarterbacks.

Kevin Kolb played three series in the first half and John Skelton had one. Both led the team to a touchdown in their first series. Kolb was 3/3 for 22 yards in a seven play, 41-yard drive in their opening possession that gave the Cards a 7-0 lead. The drive was set up by a 46-yard Patrick Peterson punt return.

Skelton took the the offense four plays and 23 yards, completing a three-yard pass to Anthony Sherman to find the end zone. He was 3/3 for 23 yards and the score. The drive was set up by a fumble by Oakland that Daryl Washington forced and Stewart Bradley recovered.

Kolb's night after the first drive was more of the same problems -- bad pass protection, holding on to the ball too long and sacks.

However, the defense forced three turnovers in the half, Patrick Peterson had a 46-yard punt return. Rookie Justin Bethel blocked a punt, recovered it and ran with it for a touchdown.

Running back Ryan Williams, who was in his first game action in almost a year, carried the ball five times for 25 yards and a score, including a crowd-electrifying 15-yarder.
