Adam Schefter Reports That John Skelton Is In Lead For Cardinals QB Starting Job

Stay connected for news and updates

The Arizona Cardinals still do not know who will be their starting quarterback come September 9 when they host the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1 of the regular season. Neither Kevin Kolb nor John Skelton have stood out in practice or the preseason as to who is clearly better. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that, depite the fact that Kevin Kolb will start on Friday against the Oakland Raiders, Skelton is the favorite to win the starting job.

Skelton has not been fantastic by any means and threw an interception in his last game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Kolb was 1/5 for 21 yards.

If Kolb loses the job, it will be the second team that he has been named the starter for only to have injuries and the play of another quarterback relegate him to the bench.

Don't expect him to be cut from the team if he is not the starter. The team has already paid him a $7 million bonus this year.

The Cardinals play the Oakland raiders at home on Friday.
