Arizona Cardinals running back Ryan Williams could return to action for the first time in almost a year against the Oakland Raiders in a preseason matchup to try and help out Beanie Wells.

Williams is a year removed from being drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, being picked 38th overall. However, before Williams could ever see the field in an actual meaningful game, he ruptured his patella tendon in a preseason game and ended up missing the rest of the season.
Williams was expected to push Wells for one of the starting rotation running back jobs last season. Wells ended up being the starter for most of last season, rushing for a modest 1,047 yards in 14 games. One would have to think that a two-pronged rush attack would be more capable offensively and further open up avenues in the passing game.
