Brigetta Barrett, who is going to be a senior at the University of Arizona this fall, held strong with the best competition in the world on Saturday and won a silver medal in the women's high jump. She cleared the bar of 2.03 meters -- 6 feet, 8 inches -- which only two other ladies were able to accomplish in London.

Anna Chicherova of Russia, who entered as the heavy favorite, cleared the bar of 2.05m (6'8.75") on her final attempt to secure the gold medal. Shkolina Svetlana of Russia tied with Barrett, but a tiebreaker ruled that she would take home bronze while Barrett received silver.

It was a great performance from an emerging star in the track & field world.
