As the Arizona Diamondbacks look to get themselves deeper in the playoff race this year, they'll have a tough test this weekend as the first-place Washington Nationals come to Chase Field for a three-game set.
Arizona is 6-4 in their last ten games, splitting their last series in Pittsburgh 2-2. As for Washington, they are 8-2 in their last ten games, bringing a six game winning streak with them to the desert.
Trevor Cahill (9-9, 3.76) takes on Stephen Strasburg (12-5, 2.97) in Friday's series opener. Cahill took a no decision against the Dodgers in his last start after six innings of three-run ball, while Strasburg earned his 12th win after six scoreless innings against the Marlins. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. with coverage on Fox Sports Arizona and KTAR.
Wade Miley (12-7, 2.85) faces Edwin Jackson (6-7, 3.56) on Saturday. Miley took the loss in his last start after six innings of one-run ball, while Jackson got a no decision after 5.1 innings of two-run bal in his last start. First pitch is scheduled for 5:10 p.m. with coverage on Fox Sports Arizona and KTAR.
Patrick Corbin (3-4, 3.53) squares off with Ross Detwiler (6-4, 2.99)in Sunday's series finale. Corbin tossed six innings of two run ball in his last start, taking a no decision, while Detwiler took a ND in his last outing as well after seven innigns of two-run ball. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. with coverage on Fox Sports Arizona and KTAR.
