London Olympics Recap: Matt Grevers Wins Silver, Aims For Gold Tomorrow

Matt Grevers had himself a pretty good Sunday. Not only did he put himself in good position to win a gold medal on Monday, but he ended up winning a medal despite not swimming a final.

Grevers swam two excellent races in the 100 meter backstroke, winning his heat and his semifinal. That means he'll be swimming his final event right down the middle and will also be the favorite going into it over Camille Lacourt of France. Grevers also had the second best split in the 400 free relay, but didn't get selected for the final. He won a silver medal when the United States finished second in the relay to France.

In other swimming news, Breeja Larson of Mesa performed very well at the 100 breaststroke prelims, giving her a good shot to medal tomorrow. University of Arizona swimmer Nick Thoman also performed well, finishing with the fifth-fastest time in the semifinals. Thoman has a good chance to win the medal.

In other Arizona-related news, Andre Iguodala and James Harden also came off the bench and made significant contributions for the victory of the United States over France.
