Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony Is In The Books

The athletes of Great Britain entered last to wrap up the traditional Parade of Nations on Friday night at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. The exultant Olympians waved to the London crowd as the confetti flew and David Bowie's "Heroes" blared. The entrance of Great Britain capped off the long Parade of Nations and led into the ceremonial lighting of the Olympic Flame.

The United States athletes came just a few countries before Great Britain and received a thunderous ovation of their own. The U.S. also appeared to be much more interested than other countries in capturing the moment from their perspective via iPhones and cameras, but perhaps that is to be expected.

Following the Parade of Nations and the lighting of the flame, Sir Paul McCartney led the 60,000 fans in attendance in a rousing singalong of "Hey Jude."
