NFL Offseason Grades: Cardinals Secure B-Minus From SportsIllustrated

We're currently stuck in the doldrums of the offseason where news is slow, players are away on vacation, and teams aren't doing much in terms of making moves or changing depth charts. The only 'developments' we hear about these days, its seems, involve players getting arrested. With nothing set to change for the next week or so as we approach training camp, it's as good as a time as any to hand out 'offseason grades' prior to the frantic shuffling we'll inevitably see in the next couple of months prior to Week 1's kickoff.

SportsIllustrated released their grades on Wednesday and gave the Arizona Cardinals a B-minus. Find out why, after the jump.

Per SI:

• Arizona Cardinals: Finding a No. 2 receiver (Michael Floyd) and getting Calais Campbell locked up long-term were big steps in the right direction. They swung and missed on Peyton Manning, however, displaying their lack of confidence in Kevin Kolb in the process. They're also still weak at OT, pending a Bobbie Massie breakthrough, and at linebacker, and didn't really address either spot. Grade: B-minus

Like many teams around the NFL, Arizona is banking on improvement from the quarterback position in 2012. As SI points out, they briefly dabbled in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes but ultimately go into battle next year with either Kevin Kolb or John Skelton throwing the passes. With Levi Brown still a weak link on the offensive line, they're hoping Bobbie Massie can show the top-end talent and not the character concerns that led him to fall in the Draft. Also on the offensive side of the football, if Michael Floyd can live up to his billing, that should go a long way towards improvement at the QB position.
