Check out the legendary main event of UFC 148 with Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen fight video highlights, brought to you by FOX Sports. Silva and Sonnen met on July 7, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, in a rematch of their epic UFC 117 championship bout.
With two years of bad blood at their back, Silva and Sonnen faced off once again in an instant classic. Catch the video highlights below.
Check out more on Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen with play-by-play from MMA Fighting, SB Nation's home for mixed martial arts.
Round 1: Yves Lavigne gives the signal, and we're off. Sonnen comes straight across the cage and immediately takes Silva down. The crowd erupts. I wonder if they'll even be able to hear the horn at the end of the round with all this noise. Sonnen works from the top with short strikes while Silva tries to create space to get up. Sonnen looks comfortable in Silva's half-guard, but he's got to work to avoid a stand-up. The crowd alternates between chants of ‘USA' and ‘Silva.' Sonnen postures up to strike and Silva looks for a minute like he might try for another triangle choke. Not this time. With a minute left in the first round, Sonnen slides through Silva's half-guard and into full mount. He lays flat and spreads his weight out on Silva while working short elbows and palm strikes. There's the horn, and Silva jogs back to his corner. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Sonnen.
Round 2: Again Sonnen charges straight across the cage and gets right in Silva's face. Silva tries to dance away, but Sonnen clinches him up against the fence. Silva stalls out the takedown attempt and then pushes Sonnen back before stinging him with a right hand. Sonnen replies with a decent right of his own, but Silva seems unbothered. Spinning backfist by Sonnen, and Silva ducks under it to let him go tumbling into the fence and onto his butt. Silva stands over him, then launches what appears to be an illegal knee to the head of a downed Sonnen. Lavigne has nothing to say about it, and Silva continues pounding on Sonnen with punches as he covers up. Sonnen briefly gets to his feet, but goes down again and can find no answer for Silva's torrent of strikes. Lavigne has seen enough, and he moves in to stop it. Silva's still the champ.

Check out the co-main event of UFC 148 with Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin fight video highlights, brought to you by FOX Sports. Ortiz and Griffin met on July 7, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, in a rubber match to decide their close-fought trilogy.
Following a 15-year career, Ortiz announced his intention to retire, win or lose, and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame prior to the match. Catch the video highlights below.
Check out more on Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin with play-by-play from MMA Fighting, SB Nation's home for mixed martial arts.
Round 1: Head kick by Griffin to start things off, and then he circles straight into a right hand from Ortiz. Griffin tries to get the front kick working, since it did so well in the second fight, but Ortiz shoots in and nabs the takedown, then lands some decent strikes as Griffin struggles frantically to get up. Griffin manages to get to his feet and he fires off a combo. Another takedown attempt by Ortiz, this one from farther out, and Griffin stops it. Ortiz is looking a little slow in the exchanges now. He tries to grab Griffin in a clinch and gets shoved into the fence. Lunging hook by Ortiz misses. Superman punch by Griffin. Ortiz ends the round with one more takedown attempt, but can't quite finish it. He's looking a little winded as he heads to the corner. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Ortiz.
Round 2: Ortiz comes out swinging and drops Griffin early. Griffin gets back to his feet quickly, but he's wobbly and Ortiz tags him a couple more times to keep him reeling. Griffin clinches up and recovers. Stiff jab by Griffin. Another jab followed by a right hand, which snaps Ortiz's head back. Griffin bounces around on the outside, firing from a distance as he checks the time. A hard right knocks Ortiz back. He appears to be cut on his nose, and Griffin keeps the pressure on heading into the final minute of the round. Griffin snaps out the front kick again, and this time it lands. Ortiz hears the ten-second warning and shoots for a takedown, but all he gets for his trouble are some hammerfists to the side of the head before the horn. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Griffin.
Round 3: Griffin gets busy with low kicks and punch combos to start the third, and Ortiz is kept largely on the defensive. Griffin fires a left hook, but Ortiz gets there first with one of his own and it sits Griffin down for a moment, though he's back up in a hurry. Takedown by Ortiz, followed by some elbows from Griffin's guard. Griffin tries for a kimura off his back, but can't get it. Griffin uses the fence to help him up with two minutes left, then turns Ortiz against the fence before backing away. Both men are showing signs of wear now, but still firing off. Griffin still seems capable of the more active combinations, but Ortiz keeps coming back with one big right at a time. At the ten-second warning, they both fire off with flurries until the horn sounds. Ortiz raises his hands in victory, and Griffin immediately turns and walks out of the Octagon, to boos from the fans. Either the UFC or good sense gets the better of him, and he comes back. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 for Ortiz, by the way.

The UFC returns to PPV this Saturday night in the most anticipated fight of 2012, as Chael Sonnen challenges Anderson Silva for the UFC middleweight title in the main event of UFC 148. The rubber match between light heavyweight legends Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin acts as the co-main event of the evening, and middleweights Cung Le and Patrick Cote also battle on the PPV card.
UFC 148 Predictions:
Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen
In my heart I am rooting for Sonnen because I am tired of the reign of Anderson Silva. He is almost too good, and most of his fights are dreadfully one-sided. Sonnen has the tools to beat him, using the same game plan as he did in the first fight, however I think Silva has learned from that fight and will not take Sonnen lightly this time. Sonnen, despite being a great wrestler, leaves himself susceptible to the submission, I think that while on the ground Silva will catch something on Sonnen and submit him inside of three rounds. SB Naton AZ Predicts: Silva via submission
Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin
A matchup of two UFC legends in the twilight of their respective careers. Ortiz has won only one fight since 2006, and Griffin hasn't finished a fight since 2007. My heart is telling me Ortiz, he is retiring after this fight and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame before this fight. But I do not think he still has the tools to beat Griffin. I think this fight will be a war as Ortiz wants to go out on a high note, and Griffin wants to prove he is not done. SB Nation AZ Predicts: Griffin via unanimous decision
Le came in with a lot of hype for his UFC debut last November, and was knockout out by Wanderlei Silva at UFC 139. Le is the former Strikeforce middleweight champion, but with only nine fights is still relatively young in his MMA career. Cote is making his return to the UFC after a two years of fighting around the world. Cote is a former title challenger as his was defeated by Silva at UFC 90. Cote is 4-0 since leaving the UFC, but has not faced the level of competition lately that Le has. SB Nation AZ Predicts: Le by knockout

UFC 148 features one of the biggest rematches in UFC history as Anderson Silva (29-4) and Chael Sonnen (28-11-1) fight for the UFC middleweight championship. The two men battled at UFC 117 in August of 2010 with Silva coming away with the submission victory. However, Sonnen is the only fighter in recent years that has given Silva trouble, as he won the first four rounds on every scorecard before being submitted in the fifth. Here is a breakdown of this Saturday's main event.
Striking: Anderson Silva is one of the best strikers in UFC history. Silva lands his strikes at an average of 68%. Meaning he lands around seven of ten strikes he attempts. Silva also has devastating KO power (just ask Vitor Belfort) and can end the fight with one strike. Silva also has 64% striking defense, meaning he is very good at avoiding the strikes of his opponents (just ask Forrest Griffin). According to the numbers, Sonnen is not out of his league while on the feet with Silva, as Sonnen lands 3.24 strikes per minute, compared to Silva's 3.18. Sonnen also absorbs less strikes than Silva and has high striking defense. However, Silva is one of the most devastating strikers in the game and every minute this fight stays standing is an advantage for Silva. Advantage: Silva
Ground Game: This is where Chael Sonnen thrives, as he is one of the best wrestlers in MMA. Sonnen averages 4.01 takedowns per 15 minutes compared to Silva's 0.75. Sonnen is also a very active wrestler, he does not just lay on his opponents for 15 minutes. When Sonnen gets on top of his opponent, he does serious damage to the head and body of them. Silva does have 69% takedown defense, and Silva does average more submission attempts than Sonnen. Sonnen's last five losses have all come via submission and he does leave himself open to the submission. However, as seen in their first fight, Sonnen has a distinct advantage on the ground when he gets Silva there. Advantage: Sonnen
X-Factor: There are a lot of X-Factors in this fight. The first one is the anger of Anderson Silva. At the pre-fight press conference he tried to bully Sonnen during their stare-down and had to be restrained. Although, usually fighters that fight with anger leave themselves open because they do not have a level head. Another X-Factor is what did both men take away from their first fight. Silva got better from his back as the fight when on and submitted Sonnen with a triangle choke from his back. Sonnen has stated that he was gassed in the final round and his conditioning his stronger now. Advantage: Even

The main card for UFC 148 features six bouts, with the main event being a five round rematch for the UFC middleweight championship. Champion Anderson Silva will be taking on Sherdog's number two ranked middleweight in the world, Chael Sonnen. Silva hasn't lost an MMA fight since January 20, 2006, and it looks like the Las Vegas odds makers feel that he is going to win again. Even though Sonnen was beating Silva for four and a half rounds the last time these two met, he is still the underdog in this bout.
The rubber match between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin favors Griffin by a large margin. Ortiz won their first bout back in 2006, but has gone 1-6-1 in his last eight fights. Griffin is 2-3 since winning the UFC light heavyweight Championship in 2008. Both previous matches between these two fighters ended in a split decision.
The French-Canadian, Patrick Cote, has won his last four fights, and is favored over Cung Le in his UFC return. Le most recently lost to Wanderlei Silva in 2011, his only bout in the UFC up to now.
Dong Hyun Kim, who has only one loss on his record, is favored over Demian Maia. The last seven fights for Maia have ended in a decision, where he has gone 4-3.
Chad Mendes suffered his first career loss earlier this year when he fought Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight Championship, but he is heavily favored over Cody McKenzie. McKenzie won ‘The Ultimate Fighter 12' in 2010, but has gone 1-2 since then.
It looks like a toss-up in the fight between Ivan Menjivar and Mike Easton. Menjivar has won his last three fights, while Easton is on a seven fight win streak. The odds are the same for these two fighters.
Check below for the odds on the remaining fights for UFC 148.
Main card on pay-per-view:
Anderson "The Spider" Silva (-275) vs. Chael Sonnen (+235)
Forrest Griffin (-310) vs. Tito "The People's Champ" Ortiz (+255)

Chad "Money" Mendes (-550) vs. Cody McKenzie (+400)
Ivan Menjivar (-115) vs. Mike "The Hulk" Easton (-115)
