Olympic Trials 2012, Swimming Results: Matt Grevers, Breeja Larson Perform Well

OMAHA, NE - JUNE 26: Matt Grevers competes in preliminary heat 11 of the Men's 100 m Backstroke during Day Two of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials at CenturyLink Center on June 26, 2012 in Omaha, Nebraska. (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)

Matt Grevers and Breeja Larson performed well in the preliminaries of the 2012 Olympic Swimming Trials.

Arizona swimmers had a good start at Day 2 in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. Here are some of the early results.

Matt Grevers of Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics had the fastest preliminary time at the 100 m backstroke preliminaries. Grevers finished with a silver medal in the event in Beijing, so it's very likely that Grevers should be the favorite going into the finals, particularly with Ryan Lochte pulling out of the event.

There were a bunch of swimmers in the women's 100 breaststroke prelims who performed well on their way to the semifinals. Breeja Larson (Mesa/Texas A&M), Ellyn Baumgardner (Arizona) and Amanda Beard and Annie Chandler (Tucson Ford) all finished in the top eight. Rebecca Soni finished first in prelim times.

Adam Ritter also qualified after his 200 meter freestyle prelim time.

You should be able to see coverage of these heats tape-delayed at 3:30 PM PT and 6:30 PM ET on the NBC Sports Network.
