U.S. Open Prize Money 2012: Webb Simpson Gets The Big Money With Big Win

Stay connected for news and updates

Webb Simpson took advantage of a late collapse by Jim Furyk in order to walk away with his first career major win on Sunday. The 2012 U.S. Open title went to Simpson, along with $1.44 million in prize money.

While Simpson wins the lion's share of the U.S. Open purse, the top 15 spots in the tournament will all take home a minimum of six figures. Amateurs in the tournament -- including breakout star Beau Hossler -- are not allowed to pocket any money, but will likely view the experience and exposure as invaluable.

Here are the payouts for the final Top 10 standings in the 2012 U.S. Open:

1 Webb Simpson (+1): $1,440,000
T2 Michael Thompson (+2): $695,916
T2 Graeme McDowell (+2): $695,916
T4 Jason Dufner (+3): $276,841
T4 Padraig Harrington (+3): $276,841
T4 David Toms (+3): $276,841
T4 John Peterson (+3): $276,841
T4 Jim Furyk (+3): $276,841
