UFC On FUEL TV 3: Results And Bonuses

The Korean Zombie and Dustin Poirier put on a show for MMA fans in Fairfax, Virginia Tuesday night as the headlining bout of UFC on FUEL TV 3 exceeded expectations.

In an action filled main event, Chan Sung Jung (The Korean Zombie) submitted Dustin Poirier by D'arce choke at the 1:07 mark of the fourth round. Jung controlled Poirier on the ground during the first three rounds and cut Poirier on the top of his head with an elbow in the first round.

Poirier survived multiple submission attempts by Jung in the second round as Jung went from armbar to triangle choke during a scramble on the ground. Both men landed vicious strikes on each other and both men were bloodied after the fight. In the fourth round, Jung rocked Poirier with an uppercut and a flying knee, with the dazed Poirier on the ground, Jung locked in the choke and claimed the victory.

Jung earned himself some extra cash as his D'arce choke earned him "Submission of the Night." Jung and Poirier were awarded "Fight of the Night," and Tom Lawlor was awarded "Knockout of the Night" for his first round knockout of Jason McDonald. Bonuses were $40,000 each.

UFC on FUEL TV 3 took place from the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia. The reported attendance for the event was 4,592 for a live gate of $343,175. Full results from the night's action below.

UFC On FUEL TV 3 Weigh-In Results: Jung (145) Poirier (145), Both On Weight

The UFC on FUEL TV 3 weigh-ins took place this afternoon from Fairfax, Virginia. All 24 fighters scheduled to fight on the card made weight including the card's headliners Dustin Poririer and Chan Sung Jung.

Poirier and Jung both weighed-in at the featherweight limit of 145-pounds. Poirier has won five fights in a row since dropping from lightweight in 2010. Poirier has 10 career victories by stoppage, and defeated Max Holloway by submission at UFC 143 in February.

Jung has won two fights in a row, including a seven second knockout of Mark Hominick at UFC 140. Jung won the submission of the year in 2011 for his twister submission of Leonard Garcia in March of 2011.

Jung has stated that if he wins this fight he wants a shot at the featherweight title, Poirier has stated he would like one more fight after this one before he fights for the title.

Official UFC on FUEL TV 3 weigh-ins are slated to take place at 4:00 p.m. ET on Monday at the Patriot Center in the Fairfax, VA. Upstart featherweight contenders "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung and Dustin Poirier meet in the night's main event, with the winner becoming the likely number-one contender for the UFC's 145-pound division. Additionally, feared strikers Donald Cerrone and Jeremy Stephens battle to climb up the UFC lightweight ladder.

Apparently a six-second knockout isn't enough to sway Vegas oddsmakers, as "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung will be a slight underdog when he takes on Dustin Poirier this Tuesday, in the main event of UFC on Fuel 3. The stakes have never been higher for the two burgeoning contenders, as the winner of the bout is likely to earn the next UFC featherweight title shot.

The official UFC 149: Aldo vs. Koch pre-fight press conference took place Wednesday, May 9, from Alberta, Canada. UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and number-one contender Erik Koch were in attendance to field questions from the Canadian media regarding their newly-booked title fight, which is slated to headline UFC 149 on July 21 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

UFC on Fuel 3 Trailer: Korean Zombie Vs. Poirier

"The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung and Dustin Poirier will collide on May 15, 2012 at Fairfax's Patriot Center in the ferocious main event of UFC on Fuel 3 to determine the next number-one contender in the UFC's featherweight division. Despite being two of the youngest fighters in the 145-pound weight class, Jung and Poirier have resoundingly cemented their claim as contenders by rolling off a perfect combined 6-0 record inside the Octagon, capped by recent first-round victories over Mark Hominick and Max Holloway, respectively. Now the two upstart challengers meet in the biggest fight of the their lives, with a shot at the belt up for grabs.
