Preakness 2012 Contenders: Liaison Pulls Out

Stay connected for news and updates

Liaison was supposed to be one of the main horses in contention in the 2012 Preakness, but it appears like he won't be racing. Jennie Rees reports that Arnold Zetcher's horse pulled out of the race late Monday night and is out of consideration.

Liaison is trained by Bob Baffert, who was born in Nogales, Arizona. He had a great result at the 2012 Kentucky Derby, where as a long shot he finished sixth overall. Before the Derby, Liaison had a record of 7-3-0-1, but hadn't won a race since December. Liaison probably isn't in the best possible shape to win this race, so it makes sense that he's not competing.

Baffert still has Bodemeister in the race, and he figures to be one of the big favorites to win it all come Saturday.
