It was another woeful week for your Arizona Diamondbacks. They played six games this week and lost five of them. Now, not only has the team's offense continued to be problematic, but their starting pitching has gone in the dumps, as well.
Corbin held the San Francisco Giants to one run in the D-backs' only win of the week, the 5-1 series opener. He ate up some innings (going seven), giving up one earned run (a solo homer from Miguel Cabrera very early in the game) with four strikeouts. Given the way the starters have performed lately, it was refreshing to see both a lengthy start and a win.
Goldschmidt gets the award for his two-run homer in the same game Corbin earned his star. This was a tough award, because it was also the game in which rookie A.J. Pollock hit his first big league home run. But, the D-backs are not necessarily expecting much from Pollock; they are, however, expecting Goldie to hit and hit powerfully and up to that game, he had been mainly whiffing. His hitless ways have since continued, but for a night, he was the player Arizona needs him to be.
