2012 Players Championship Leaderboard: Phil Mickelson Holding Steady At Even Par

Phil Mickelson has had an eventful first round at TPC Sawgrass. He birdied the first two holes, then bogied six and ten to fall back to even. He then birdied and bogeyed consecutive holes at 12 and 13 to move up to one-under and back to even-par respectively. He remains right on pace for even, which would put him seven strokes off the pace Ian Poulter and Martin Laird set with their opening rounds of 65.

Tim Clark has had the most success among those at the Players Championship with Arizona-connections. The South African (who now lives in Scottsdale) birdied three of the first four holes and staved off three bogeys with another birdie to finish with a one-under round of 71. Chez Reavie (from Arizona State) has had a pretty ho-hum round at even par, tied with Mickelson. Rory Sabbatini is at +4.

Aaron Baddeley did not have a good opening round. The Australian who now resides in Scottsdale put up a 78, including two triple bogeys. Paul Casey (who also resides in Scottsdale) withdrew.
