Phil Mickelson looked like he was in danger of falling out of contention at the 2012 Masters after a disastrous triple bogey on 10th when he couldn't find his golf ball on a swing that took it wide left. But as he always has in the past, Lefty made some big plays when he birdied the par-fives on the back nine on 13 and 15, which minimized the damage of the bogey on 14, then came up with a birdie on 18 to finish at +2.

Jim Furyk was the best performer among the Arizona golfer, managing the most boring round of -2 ever (two birdies, no bogeys, 16 pars). Aaron Baddeley finished one-under par thanks to three birdies (two on the par fives), Rory Sabbatini managed a rally to even par, Martin Kaymer had a solid 72, Paul Casey fell to a 76, Tim Clarke finished at +1, Rory Sabbatini also stays at +1 while still moving through Amen Corner. The rest of the Arizona golfers are in danger of missing the cut, as Martin Laird wrapped up at +4, Robert Garrigus is at +5 and Chez Reavie finished at +7.
