Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski Planning On Playing In Super Bowl Despite Ankle Injury

We are just a few days away from the biggest game of the season and New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is one of the keys to the game for the New England offense. The former Arizona Wildcat had a record-breaking season and creates all sorts of matchup problems for defenses because of his size and speed. Many believe that he is the difference maker in the New England offense.

Having suffered a high ankle sprain in the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens, his status for the game this weekend has been a little up in the air. He was in a walking boot earlier in the week.

However, a tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter sheds more light on the situation.

Barring a setback in practice this week, Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will play in Super Bowl XLVI. Expected to be limited at practice today.

Not that this isn't unexpected. Not only is the Super Bowl the final game of the year, players never know whether they will ever get back. So, you can book it that he is going to play. The question is how much and how effective.

Despite the uncertainty of his ability to play and play well, the Patriots are still considered three-point favorites for the big game.
