Examining the NBA standings a little more than one month into the season.

The Phoenix Suns knew things would not be easy as they transitioned out of the Steve Nash era. Now 20 games into the season, Phoenix has a record of 7-13 and is falling behind in a tough Western Conference.

As of Saturday, Dec. 8, Phoenix sits in 13th place in the Western Conference. They're currently three games back of a playoff spot, although there are numerous teams ahead of them. In the Pacific Division, the Suns are in fifth place. They are six games back of the Clippers, and only the Kings are behind them in the standings.

As for the rest of the league, the Memphis Grizzlies surprisingly have the best record at 14-3. In the Eastern Conference, it's the New York Knicks that hold a slight lead atop the standings with a 14-4 record.

The worst team in the NBA? That would be the Washington Wizards, which have just two wins and 14 losses.

Here is a full look at the Western Conference standings.
