The signing of Cody Ross makes a trade of an outfielder rather likely
The Arizona Diamondbacks, by signing veteran outfielder Cody Ross, opened themselves up for business for a trade. By adding Ross, Arizona has added him to a group of Justin Upton, Jason Kubel, Gerardo Parra, Adam Eaton and A.J. Pollock. Before the move, it was expected that Kubel, Eaton, Upton and Parra would get the majority of playing time, with Pollock also being in the mix.
Upton has been in mentioned in multiple trade rumors, but after the Diamondbacks made a move to trade for shortstop Didi Gregorius and sign pitcher Brandon McCarthy, those rumors had calmed. But the acquisition of Ross have kindled those trade talks. Now, rather than Upton, it appears that Jason Kubel will be the one who could leave Arizona.

Kubel is most likely to go, much more likely than upton. #dbacks

Kubel has one year left on his deal with Arizona, worth $7.5 million. His power bat and his arm in the outfield could bring value back.
