ASU's freshman guard is shining early in the season.
Jahii Carson did everything in his power to lead the Arizona St. Sun Devils to a win over nationally-ranked Creighton on Saturday night. ASU ended up falling short to the Bluejays, although Carson's individual performance earned him some recognition. On Tuesday, he was named the "Freshman of the Weekend" by ESPN.
Carson scored 30 points, making him just the fourth Sun Devil freshman to do so. He also dished out seven assists, brought down four rebounds and stole the ball four times. The lone blemish on Carson's day was five turnovers.
The big game against Creighton was just one of many impressive performances for the freshman guard. Carson currently leads all freshmen in scoring with 21 points per game, and he's also averaging five assists and nearly three rebounds. It is worth noting that Carson is a sophomore academically, but these numbers are very impressive regardless.
Arizona State will look to improve to 5-1 this season when they take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff this Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. ET.
