Suns Vs. Pistons: Game preview, starting lineups and more

Ronald Martinez

Just one game into the season the team is looking to answer questions, but it is just one game and nobody is panicking. A visit from the woeful Detroit Pistons could help.

The Phoenix Suns (0-1) look to rebound in their second game of the season at home against the Detroit Pistons (0-1) who are also looking for their first win of the season. In the Suns home opener they lost a tough one in the final minutes where the Pistons were out-classed by The James Harden Show.

One major concern for head coach Alvin Gentry is spacing.

"Spacing is something we are still working on," stated Alvin Gentry before the game. "We are playing in a system that guys have never played in before. They are usually not spaced out on the court like (Luis) Scola and (P.J.) Tucker."

With proper spacing the team will be in a better position to win games down the stretch with the predetermined duo of Michael Beasley and Goran Dragic. In the first game they logged zero minutes together in the final five minutes.

"Most games in the NBA are decided in the final five minutes," stated Alvin Gentry. "Michael (Beasley) needs to be on the floor, we need him on the floor."

Starting Line-Ups:

PG - Goran Dragic v. Brandon Knight

SG - Jared Dudley v. Rodney Stuckey

SF - Michael Beasley v. Tayshaun Prince

PF - Luis Scola v. Jason Maxiell

C - Marcin Gortat v. Greg Monroe

Opponents Take:

Lawrence Frank: "Dragic is a very good playmaker so you have to be aware to his penetration. He is a creator. He has the ability to score and create for others. Beasley you know can get it going any night. He is coming off a disappointing game two nights ago so I am sure he will be even more locked in to try and have a big night to mend for it. Scola is a formidable force that can score in multiple ways so you have to prepare. Not every team is loaded with one star and even if they are he is not going to score 110 points. So it is not game planning for one guy. The system is still in place with tweaks so you prepare for what you have in front of you."

Interesting Stat

Luis Scola in nine games verse the Pistons is 7-2 averaging 15.8 PPG and 7.6 RPG

The Suns are 11-12 against the Pistons over the past ten years.
