NFL picks against the spread: Cardinals have table set to beat large spread

Jonathan Daniel

We give our picks against the spread for the early Sunday games.

Week 9 was kicked off with a big San Diego Chargers win over the woeful Kansas City Chiefs, who still have not had a lead this season in regulation. In the early games on Sunday, there are a couple of big lines. One is to take and one is to avoid.

Denver Broncos (-3.5) at Cincinnati Bengals: Peyton Manning could throw for 300 yards and three touchdowns for a fifth week in a row. That would be a record. He is playing at as high a level as he ever has. Meanwhile, Cincinnati is struggling. Pick: Broncos, -3.5.

Baltimore Ravens (-3.5) at Cleveland Browns: Cleveland's defense is quite solid, limiting San Diego to only six points. Still, Baltimore is potent offensively. Pick: Ravens, -3.5.

Arizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers (-10.5): Arizona is struggling. Aaron Rodgers has hit his stride. However, the only thing Green Bay can do offensively is pass. The Cards have the league's fourth best passing defense. Plus Green Bay is missing some key players. This line is too big and Green bay is not as physical a team, which matches up better with Arizona. I'm not calling the upset, but I'm taking the points. Pick: Cards, +10.5.

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans (-11): Houston is going to roll. This line isn't big enough to scare me away. Pick: Texans, -11.

Miami Dolphins (-3) at Indianapolis Colts: As good as Andrew Luck has been, the Dolphins are surprisingly decent. Their defense is playing well, they can run the ball and Ryan Tannehill is producing. Their physicality triumphs.Pick: Dolphins, -3.

Detroit Lions (-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars: As uneven as Matthew Stafford has played, The Jags are still the Jags.Pick: Lions, -4.

Chicago Bears (-4.5) at Tennessee Titans: Tennessee has been playing well with Matt Hasselbeck starting. However, he is prone to turnovers from time to time, and that is what the Bears defense does best. Pick: Bears, -4.5.

Carolina Panthers at Washington Redskins (-3.5): This is Cam Newton vs. Robert Griffin, III. Griffin is Cam 2.0, meaning he is even better. That's the difference. But it will be fun to watch. If only they both could be on the field at the same time. Pick: Redskins, -3.5.
