Sun Devils projected for Pinstripe Bowl in NYC

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports is currently projecting Arizona State to play in the Pinstripe Bowl and Arizona to play in the New Mexico Bowl.

Second half adjustments key for Sun Devils

Despite a close first half, Arizona State pulled away from Colorado in the game's final 30 minutes Thursday night en route to a dominant, 51-17 victory on the road.

The Sun Devils didn't allow the Buffaloes to score a single point in the second half while scoring 31 of their own. The adjustments Arizona State made in the second half were the story of the game, according to Nick Marek of SB Nation's Arizona State blog, House of Sparky.

"Take a deep breath. ASU survived the 20-17 halftime scare ... We can all agree the first half was not the prettiest performance by the Sun Devils on the road, but they made adjustments and put the game in the game squarely in the win column by the end."

With the win, Arizona State improved to 5-1 (3-0 Pac 12), while Colorado fell to 1-5 (1-2). The Sun Devils come home this week for another Thursday-night matchup against No. 2 Oregon.

ASU's Marion Grice is a touchdown machine!

He seems to score almost every time he touches the football.

Sun Devils explosive in second half, win 51-17

The Sun Devils were the definition of the word dominate in the second half as they shut out Colorado for a 51-17 victory.

ASU gets back on track, lead 34-17 after third

The Arizona State Sun Devils came out of the locker room invigorated and motivated, extending their lead to 34-17 with only one quarter left to play.

It all began with Rashad Ross returning the opening kickoff entirely untouched for a 100-yard score. From there, it was clear this was a more focused ASU team.

After an exchange of some punts, QB Taylor Kelly lead his team on a 11-play, 76-yard drive, showcasing his underrated running ability in the process. The Sun Devils would conclude it with Marion Grice getting his third receiving touchdown reception of the day on a well-timed screen pass (20 yards).

Much of the Devils second half resurgence can be directed towards their defense as the unit forced five incompletions from Jordan Webb in the quarter leading to three straight three-and-outs in the process. ASU's quick strike attack has been working almost flawlessly too with Colorado holding the ball for nearly four more minutes but still being down three scores.

The Buffaloes will be punting to Arizona State to begin the final quarter following a Brandon Magee sack on third and four.

Sun Devils in a tight one, up 20-17 at half

The Arizona State Sun Devils have allowed the Colorado Buffaloes back into the game with a sloppy second quarter and now only lead 20-17.

ASU got the party started on their second drive when RB Marion Grice took a well-blocked screen pass 37 yards for the first touchdown of the game. New kicker Jon Mora's career wouldn't get off to such a hot start though, with his extremely low extra point easily being swatted down.

But following an unsuccessful fourth down conversion by ASU, the Buffaloes would finally find pay dirt. A two-yard rushing touchdown from RB Tony Jones put Colorado ahead, 7-6, on a drive that was extended due to a missed fumble call and a question pass interference.

Arizona State retaliated on the following drive as QB Taylor Kelly found D.J. Foster on a beautiful 34-yard touchdown strike. But for this extra point, Todd Graham elected to go back to Alex Garoutte and the sophomore drained it easily.

And ASU continued the high octane fun as soon as they got the ball back. After hooking up with TE Chris Coyle for catches of 30 and 18 yards, Kelly fired in a laser to Grice for an 18-yard touchdown to put the score at 20-6.

But some poor tackling on TE Nick Kasa allowed Colorado to get a big fourth down conversion on their final drive. And two plays later, QB Jordan Webb would find Kasa again for a 20-yard touchdown.

The negative momentum carried over to the kick return too with Jamal Miles getting stripped on the 17 yard line. The huge turnover set up a 37-yard field goal from Will Oliver to put the game at 20-17 heading into the locker room.

Arizona State will be getting the ball to start the second half.

Arizona State up 6-0 after first quarter

The Arizona State Sun Devils have come out of the gates looking focused, building a 6-0 lead over the Colorado Buffaloes through one quarter.

The Sun Devils struck first on their second drive of the game, with RB Marion Grice taking the ball 37 yards for a score on a well setup screen pass. Unfortunately, Jon Mora's kicking career would get off to a rough start with his extra point easily being blocked due to a low trajectory.

The only real complaint from the first fifteen minutes are the two penalties from the Devils (false start, running into the kicker). Other than that, it's been smooth sailing for ASU.

QB Taylor Kelly only has one incompletion (4-of-5, 57 yards, one touchdown) and the run game already has 93 yards on 11 carries. Freshman D.J. Foster has been leading the charge with five carries for 41 yards including a big 23-yard scamper get their only scoring drive started.
