Arizona vs. Stanford Score Update: Undersized Wildcats struggling early, trail 7-0

Stay connected for news and updates

The Arizona Wildcats did not put up much in the way of resistance against Stanford on their opening drive. The Cardinal reeled off an 11-play, 65-yard touchdown drive that was capped with an 11-yard TD pass from Josh Nunes to tight end Zach Ertz. Stanford currently leads 7-0 after the first quarter.

UA is without two of their starting offensive linemen and that has been the story early for the Wildcat offense. Matt Scott has been sacked two times already, and he's had very little time in the pocket to make his reads. The senior is currently 3-for-6 with 27 passing yards. Ka'Deem Carey continues to run the ball well, averaging 4.3 yards-per-carry on three attempts.

Arizona's defense stepped up at the end of the quarter and forced another Stanford punt. They will begin the second quarter with the ball at the 20-yard line. This is still a competitive game, but Scott needs to put some points on the board before the defense begins to wear out.
