Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE
Good news all around for Sutton and Arizona State, as the defensive lineman could return this weekend (while also being named a Bednarik Award semifinalist).
Arizona State coach Todd Graham is hopeful that injured defensive tackle Will Sutton will play on Saturday against the Oregon State Beavers. Graham's statement comes on the same day that Sutton was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award given to the nation's top defensive player.
Sutton hurt his right knee during the Sun Devils' 43-21 loss to the Oregon Ducks and watched the rest of the game on crutches from the sidelines.
Sutton recorded 7.5 sacks , 40 tackles and 14 tackles for loss this season prior to his injury.
Arizona State is 5-3, but have lost their past two games, both coinciding with Sutton's absence from the lineup against the Ducks and in Saturday's heartbreaking loss to the UCLA Bruins, 45-43. The Sun Devils finish the season against the Beavers, USC Trojans, Washington St. Cougars and the Arizona Wildcats.
