Fantasy football, Week 7: Start Eli Manning, Sit Matthew Stafford

Stephen Dunn

A look at Week 7 of the NFL season with a fantasy football twist.

Rehash

For my three up I wasn't too happy. Roddy White and Julio Jones were ok, but didn't live up to expectations. LeSean McCoy got into the end zone, but the total yards was once again a disappointment and my only top notch pick was Percy Harvin, who had 133 receiving yards. The three down was better with Steven Ridley bombing as expected, Reggie Wayne not producing up to his previous weeks, but Ahmad Bradshaw was much better than projected.

Three Up

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Running Back Doug Martin

Martin had over 100 total yards last week against the Kansas City Chiefs and averaged 5.8 yards per carry. This week the rookie gets to go up against a New Orleans Saints defense which is giving up five yards per carry and has allowed seven rushing touchdowns. This should be Martin's breakout game.

New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning

Despite having success in his two previous games against the San Francisco Giants Eli Manning only posted 193 yards and one touchdown this past Sunday. New York faces off with the Washington Redskins, who have given up 328 passing yards per game, the most in the NFL. Their 15 touchdown passes allowed is also tied for most in the league. I would be floored if Manning didn't cross 300 yards and throw for multiple TDs.

Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver Kenny Britt

Britt showed signs of life last week with four catches, 62 yards and a touchdown, by far his best game of the season. This week he gets to face the porous Buffalo Bills. Buffalo has allowed 13 touchdown passes on the season and is 23rd pass yards allowed. Britt should pick up his first 100 yard game of the season.

Three Down

Detroit Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford

The Lions take on the Bears on Monday Night Football. Chicago's defense has essentially been a fantasy football killer this season and they had a full two weeks to prepare for Detroit. I see multiple turnovers in Matt Stafford's future.

Pittsburgh Steelers Running Back Situation

I would just avoid the entire crew. It's not known if Rashard Mendenhall or Isaac Redmen are going to play. I don't trust Baron Batch, Jonathan Dwyer or Chris Rainey to get enough touches to really matter against a Bengals defense which did a nice job shutting down Trent Richardson last week.

Dallas Cowboys Running Back Felix Jones

The match up isn't bad for the Cowboys against the Carolina Panthers, but I just don't trust Jones. He played well against the Ravens last week, but their run defense is an abomination. Jones struggles to make it through games full healthy. When he was the lead back in 2011 he only accumulated double digit carries in six games. This is more of a gut call, but I don't trust the former Razorback.
