The Arizona Diamondbacks signed free agent first baseman Lyle Overbay on Saturday.
Nady was hit with a pitch by New York Mets pitcher Dillon Gee in the second inning. Though Nady did stay in the game that inning and score one run, reports indicate that Nady's hand actually turned black. He was pulled at the end of the inning and has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Overbay, who was drafted by the Diamondbacks in in 1999, spent three seasons with the team from 2001 to 2003. He has since played for the Milwaukee Brewers (2004-2005) and the Toronto Blue Jays (2006-2010).
Overbay has spent the 2011 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, playing 153 games. However, he was released from the team and cleared waivers on Thursday. After seven full seasons, Overbay will make his return to the Diamondbacks.
