So the Cardinals are, by all reports, going to make a run at a veteran quarterback as soon as this CBA thing is figured out. It could be Kevin Kolb. It could Marc Bulger. And according to at least one rumor out there, it might even be Matt Hasselbeck from the Seahawks.↵
Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about Hasselbeck the player, person and leader. My sense is that he’ll be a Seahawk for at least one more season and when his career is over, he’s bound for the Ring of Honor at Qwest Field as the most successful QB in franchise history.
But if somehow he comes to Arizona, imagine the connection that could instantly be made with Larry Fitzgerald. Hasselbeck has never really had that star go-to receiver in all his years in Seattle.↵
Hasselbeck has taken a team to the Super Bowl. He’s won in the playoffs. He’s engineered late-game comebacks and he has played hurt. I watched him and got to know him over seven seasons covering the Seahawks and he was the main man at quarterback for virtually all of those years, plus the two seasons since I stopped covering the team.↵
That, and he’s a great locker room guy. Great with the fans and media, the face of the franchise and a great fit in the laid-back Northwest.↵
Simply put, Hasselbeck is a winner and the Seahawks need to hang onto him for as long as they can. But the Cardinals would be wise to take a shot at trying to acquire him, if Hasselbeck can be had.↵
