Steve Nash had an off night. He said so himself after the Suns 102-101 win over the Jazz, claiming the he just wasn't feeling it.
An off night for the 37-year-old Nash meant 20 points and 14 assists. With his ninth assist of the game he passed Gary Payton and moved into seventh place on the NBA's all-time assist list. Nash now has 8,972 assists for his career.
After the game he talked about his history with Gary Payton and what it means to pass him on the list.
"He was always good to me. I remember my junior year in college (Santa Clara) he invited me to work out in his back yard in Oakland. It was pretty cool.
"It's amazing to know where I was then and to pass him is like beyond my wildest dreams. I love the guy."
Nash, by the way, also leads the NBA with 34 double-digits assists this season and his 31 double-doubles is the most among NBA guards. But he's not an All-Star. Go figure.
