Calling all Valley thrill seekers. Looking for some excitement in your life? Bored of the office 9 to 5? Then head on down to Cave Creek, Arizona this weekend and join the SB Nation Arizona crew as we risk life and limb at the re-debut of Running of the Bulls USA.
Catch a taste of Spain with yours truly, SB Nation Arizona photographer Ryan Malone, and the head-honcho himself, Seth Pollack, Friday afternoon on Cave Creek Boulevard as we prepare for the experience of a lifetime. Over 1,000 fearless (or stupid) individuals have signed on to be chased by 40 furious 1,500-pound bulls across a dusty quarter-mile track. With names like Blood Money and Dooms Day, these beasts mean business.
The media run kicks off the festivities at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14th, and has been opened free to the public with the purchase of a $10 spectator ticket.
Protip: if you're on the fence about the whole "being hunted by giant raging bulls" thing, competing against the old, out-of-shape media demographic is probably your safest bet (at least that's what I keep telling myself).
If Friday afternoon doesn't work for you, not to worry. There will be eight more runs throughout the weekend -- including a charity run on Friday night -- along with concerts and festivities for the whole family. Adrenaline junkies are welcome to compete as many times as they'd like, as the most daring participants will be judged on style, time near the bulls, number of runs, and much more.
After the scores are tallied, the festivities will be capped by an awards ceremony on Sunday night to honor the weekend's bravest souls, with a $500 grand prize being given to the champion.
So head on down and join the fun. I guarantee it'll be something you remember for the rest of your life. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?
Actually... don't answer that.
