Stoudemire Says He Would Have Stuck Around If...

In an interview with AOL FanHouse while at Summer League, Amar'e Stoudemire says he would have stayed in Phoenix if the Suns had fully guaranteed all five years of their contract offer.

"Definitely. If they had done that, I would have stayed,'' Stoudemire said. "They only gave me three years guaranteed.''

Now that the Suns offseason plans have basically been solidified - or not - would you still have preferred to have Amar'e stick around at five years and $100 million, or do you prefer the current line-up?

Which Suns offseason would you have preferred, given the option?
One that included Amar'e being re-signed, but with no flexibility in the team's finances.

I like what transpired after Amar'e left. Turkoglu, Childress and Warrick are great acquisitions. Plus, the team has the flexibility to make other moves.

Yadda yadda yadda... hindsight's always 20/20. This is a pointless thing to ponder.

Whatever

Amar’e just figuring out now that there is nobody else on the Knick since there’s no LeBron to be his buddy. He’s just figued out how bad the Knicks are going to be and how the Suns won’t see that big of a drop off with out him

right - that was my reaction as well

at least when I read the definitive emphasis in his statement.

At the time – the beginning of free agency – if he’d felt the same then he would not have committed to the Knicks SO quickly. But he was excited, and hoped he’d get a running mate in NY. Now he’s stuck with Raymond Felton and Anthony Randolph and he’s questioning his decision.

I feel bad for him, a little bit. I still think the Suns’ offer was 100% fair. Perfect, even. Play 4 years, get 5 guaranteed. Miss a yr, lose some money. Turk just forfeited half his yr-4 guarantee to come here.

that's kinda sad for NY too

with their star player admitting it was only the money that brought him to NY.

yes

meanwhile we got two quality players (three if you included Frye) who clearly preferred to play for the Suns because they want to, and that money was the 2nd priority.
