Former Sun Devil Eric Boateng With New York Knicks Summer League Team

Eric Boateng is in Las Vegas with the New York Knicks Summer League team. The undrafted former ASU Sun Devil is hoping to the make an NBA roster but is just taking things as they come.

"I'm just living in the moment. It would be great to make the roster with the Knicks. That's what we are all striving for," Boateng told SB Nation Arizona after scoring 7 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in only 16 minutes of play.

Boateng said this about the chance to play against NBA-level competition in Summer League, "It's great. It's great. It's a brilliant opportunity just to play with great players, players who work hard from all across the country. Everyone's trying to make the team but at the same time everyone's trying to win and just get better each game so it's a brilliant opportunity for me."

Boateng talked about his former Sun Devil team who is facing a lot of turnover in their roster, "I'm excited to see them play. While I was there we continued to get better and I just see it happening. Coach Sendek does a great job of preparing the players and I've learn so much from him. I'm very fortunate to have had him as a coach. Looking back on my college experience I learned a lot so the sky's the limit."

Many players in Boateng's position don't make NBA teams and face the choice of playing for the D-league where they can get more exposure to NBA scouts or they can play overseas where the competition is often better and the pay certainly is.

"You know what, right now my whole focus is just to enjoy the moment, play hard, practice hard and just live in the moment and we'll see what happens from there," Boateng said when asked about his future.
